The 4Cs of Lab-Grown Diamonds Explained
Introduction
Whether mined or man-made, all diamonds are graded based on the same four characteristics: Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat. Let’s explore what each of these really means, and how SynDia ensures exceptional quality on every front.
4C | What It Means | SynDia Standard |
Cut | How well the diamond is faceted | Ideal/Excellent only |
Color | Degree of colorlessness | D–F (colorless), G–H (near) |
Clarity | Inclusions and blemishes | VS1–VVS2 (eye-clean) |
Carat | Weight of the diamond | 1.0ct to 3.5ct standard range |
Cut: The Sparkle Factor
Cut is arguably the most important of the 4Cs. It determines how well the diamond reflects light and creates brilliance. Even a flawless diamond can appear dull if poorly cut. SynDia only offers Ideal and Excellent cut grades to ensure maximum sparkle in every stone.
Color: Shades of Purity
Color refers to how white or colorless a diamond appears. The grading scale ranges from D (completely colorless) to Z (noticeably yellow). SynDia specializes in D–F diamonds—those that are colorless to the naked eye—ensuring bright, icy brilliance.
Clarity: Flawless to the Eye
Clarity measures internal inclusions and surface blemishes. While most diamonds have some imperfections, SynDia selects only VS1–VVS2 grade stones, which are considered eye-clean and free of visible flaws under normal conditions.
Carat: Weight, Not Size
Carat refers to the weight of the diamond, not its physical dimensions. Two diamonds of the same carat may appear different in size depending on the cut. SynDia offers a curated selection between 0.5 and 2.5 carats—perfect for engagement rings and statement jewelry.
Choosing the Right Balance
Rather than chasing size alone, aim for harmony. A 1.2ct D color, VVS1 diamond with an excellent cut from SynDia offers both beauty and value.
